A Journey To Remember

A Sunday afternoon. Ria was at home doing what people do on a typical Sunday. Nothing.

We like Sundays. However, we can never decide about what to do on Sundays. There is so much to do and still, there is nothing.

As Ria sat back, thinking about what she could do with her day, she recalled all that she wanted time for. Completing her office assignment? But the deadline is next Monday. Why the hurry? Going out shopping and buying the dress that she wanted to. Oh, it was too expensive. What about the closet that needed cleaning? "Ugh... that one thing! Maybe sometime later?"

As she navigated through the various tasks that could be done, or rather that could be put off for good, her phone rang. It was an old school friend calling her almost two years later. Good! “Finally something to do”, she thought.

As she chatted on with her friend, she learned that things weren't the way they were when they were in school. As the once soft-spoken friend of hers, Tina, spoke to her, Ria realized that Tina had changed.

There was a change in her voice. It wasn't just time that changed her voice. Happiness, sorrows, struggles, ease, problems, solutions, wins, losses. One could hear it all. The more Tina spoke about things she experienced down these years, the greater Ria felt the need to speak more often to her.

How often do people stop, look back at the beautiful journey they have had, the people who stayed and left and the things that have changed?

We live in a world where things change rapidly, thanks to the major technology that surrounds us. However, the only thing that stands out are the people who affect you.

People”, who can be parents, teachers, friends, or sometimes even strangers who bring changes in your mind, if not your life. Look back at your journey till now for a moment.

Thank everyone who changed your life to be what it is today. Love your life, and love yourself for the life that you have been defining until now.

Keep Smiling! 😊
