It's There. And Then It's Not

Crumpled-paper-that-looks-like-a-jewel
Bringing my hand towards the ever-sparkling jewel,
I try holding it, only to find it disappear.
The elusive jewel leaves the trap of my hand
Every time I find it there.
I try chasing it with all my might,
But it would at times fade away from my sight.
I know it's there,
But then I know it's not.

It took some time and a great deal of effort,
To learn that certain things aren't worth
The chase and the desire to achieve.
That certain things just make us believe
In the outer beauty; but we have been told:
All that glitters is not gold.
The extremely materialistic things we stress over
Don't mean to bring our destination nearer.

The happiness we chase is like the illusion,
That I tried to chase
It comes to us and then leaves, no matter what the reason.
Learn to accept it all as a phase,
Because capturing it has no point;
Just like sand,
It slips out of our hand,
And however much we try,
We cannot hold on to it while the days pass by.
We know it's there
But the next moment it's not.

The sadness and troubles,
The confusions and uncertainties,
The terrifying things that we run away from.
Why don't we realise
That running away isn't helping us?
Negativities will find its way to us.
Escaping isn't the option here.
When we come to terms with them,
Things get better right there.

The people who leave us
The people who do not influence us
To get better and better,
Are the people who do not matter.
When we let them leave
It's easier to happily live.
We find them there for a moment,
The other moment, they aren't there.

Things happen.
They have a beginning, and then they end.
Good things start and end,
Just like bad things do.
Good people come and leave,
So do the people we never asked for.
This is the pattern of things.
Disappointment comes easier
When we try working against a pattern.

Instead of trying to get all materialistic things,
Let's work on being a better person.
Let's learn to accept our situation
The way it exactly is.

There's no war of life without
Having the right arms and the right thought.
Because, when all the materialistic things fade away,
The minimalistic things and the right people and our qualities stay.
Because, all of the elusive things have this quality:
One moment it is there,
The other moment it is not.

Keep Smiling! 😊
